Dear Friend of GATA and Gold (and Silver):
In his weekly interview with Eric King of King World News, silver market analyst Ted Butler reports that JPMorganChase, the big short in silver, has brought its position to the lowest level since May 2009 and has been reducing its short position in gold as well. Because of pending changes in law and regulation in the United States, Butler doubts that MorganChase will ever be shorting again as much as it once did. The Comex situation for gold and silver, Butler says, is now about 85 percent bullish. You can listen to the King World News interview with Butler here:

The Gold Bull Will End In A Mania
July 21, 2010
The above chart was sent to me by one of our listeners. Unfortunately he did not know who created it, but it gives a clear illustration of why the bull market in gold will end in a mania. There is a great deal of fear in the gold and silver markets at this point. You can clearly see looking at the...

Metals smash down was just another paper affair, Butler tells King World News

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold (and Silver):

In his weekly interview with Eric King of King World News, silver market analyst Ted Butler remarks that last week's smash down in the precious metals was another typical manipulation by the big commercial traders, a paper affair on the Comex without any real metal selling. The big commercials, Butler adds, began buying again on Friday. Butler says he has lost patience with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, calls the silver market a criminal operation, identifies its perpetrators, as he has done before, and notes that none of them have ever challenged his accusation. The interview is about 10 minutes long and you can find it at the King World News Internet site here:

Ted Butler on the Silver Market via GATA "Mum's The Word on Silver"

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold (and Silver):

Silver market analyst Ted Butler comments tonight on the long silence among the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the New York Commodity Exchange's owner, and J.P. MorganChase about the increasing number of complaints of manipulation of the silver market. Butler figures that anyone in authority who talks openly about the issue risks exploding the market. His commentary is headlined "Mum's the Word" and you can find it at GoldSeek's companion site, SilverSeek, here:

http://news.silverseek.com/SilverSeek/1277129806.php

"Finally, there are still credible whispers of a pending major silver lawsuit. No one knows what market impact such a suit, if it is filed, may have. We have no experience with a lawsuit being filed in an active manipulation. Given the unprecedented circumstances of the active silver manipulation, my sense is that the market impact of a silver lawsuit could be greater than many would expect. There’s no way of knowing exactly when or what will be the specific trigger that ends the manipulation and sets off the price of silver. Just know that the manipulation will be ended and the price will be set off."
